The Learning Design Blueprint documents the instructional analysis, learning goals, assessments, and learning activities used to design an eLearning module for Field Specialists at Canon Medical. This blueprint provides a clear roadmap for developing an asynchronous, self-paced training program that addresses the company’s performance problem of inconsistent and inaccurate employee competency survey completion.
Purpose
The purpose of this blueprint was to provide an evidence-based instructional design plan to guide course development. The training is intended to improve the accuracy and frequency of self-assessments by Field Specialists, ultimately supporting better operational efficiency, resource allocation, and professional development. The blueprint ensures alignment between instructional goals and assessments and is structured to promote metacognitive awareness and self-regulated learning.
Process and Tools
This design document was created using MS Word and Google Docs to allow for collaborative development and easy revisions. The design follows best practices in instructional design, incorporating Gagné’s Nine Events of Instruction, principles from Lovett et al. (2023), and Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels of Evaluation to ensure a structured and effective learning experience. Content development and learner activities are planned for implementation within an LMS using interactive multimedia elements and knowledge checks.
