eLearning Prototype

Overview

Asynchronous remote learning experience for equine practitioners learning how to integrate Google Calendar into their workflows

Made in

Storyline360

Format

online learning

The "Google Calendar at EET" eLearning prototype is designed to address the underutilization of the internal events calendar by equine practitioners. This course aims to transform current practices, where practitioners seldom check or contribute to the shared calendar, into a new standard where they actively engage with the tool. By integrating Google Calendar into their workflows, practitioners can better coordinate and communicate, ultimately enhancing service delivery to veterans.

Purpose
The primary goal of this course is to ensure that equine practitioners check the shared calendar at least once a week and update their availability as needed. The training emphasizes how utilizing Google Calendar can save time, improve operational efficiency, and allow practitioners to focus more on their passion—working with horses and veterans. The course is designed to be concise, relevant, and respectful of practitioners' time and practical inclinations, aligning with EET's mission of providing responsive and effective support to veterans.

Process and Tools Used
This asynchronous, 100% online learning experience was built using Storyline360 to accommodate the practitioners' schedules and ensure minimal disruption to their primary work with horses. The course includes interactive slides, knowledge checks with instructional feedback, and summative assessments to reinforce learning. A hybrid topic and procedural task analysis informed the content structure, ensuring a clear and comprehensive approach to teaching both basic and advanced features of Google Calendar. The course begins with foundational skills, such as installing and opening Google Calendar, and progresses to more complex tasks, like integrating the tool into daily workflows. The videos were edited using screencasts and iMovie to provide clear demonstrations tailored to the practitioners' needs.
