Together We Can: Accessible Learning Media Design

Overview

The Together We Can project is a comprehensive eLearning course designed to teach accessibility standards across digital learning environments. Built as a capstone project for graduate coursework, the course addressed real-world accessibility considerations in video, documents, slide decks, infographics, and rubrics. I developed the full experience in Rise360 and created diverse artifacts using multiple tools to reflect accessibility best practices and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

Made in

Rise360, Google Docs, PowerPoint, Canva, Procreate, Adobe Lightroom, MS Word

Format

eLearning course (Rise360), PDF resource guide, video, slide decks, infographics, downloadable templates

Date

April 2025

This eLearning experience was designed to help instructional designers and educators meet accessibility standards such as WCAG and UDL principles. The project includes videos with closed captions and transcripts, accessible document templates, slide presentations meeting accessibility requirements, infographic best practices, and customizable rubrics. I used an iterative, feedback-driven process to revise and improve the materials based on stakeholder input, which deepened my understanding of accessibility and instructional design.

Purpose
The course equips learners with practical strategies and tools to create inclusive digital content. I intentionally selected platforms and formats to model best practices: using headings for screen readers, providing alt text for images, ensuring color contrast, and offering downloadable checklists and resources. This project demonstrates my ability to design thoughtful learning experiences that balance creativity with accessibility compliance.

Process and Tools
The course was developed in Rise360 for its responsive design and ease of use. Videos were created and edited using video/audio tools and captioning software. Infographics were designed in Canva; illustrations were drawn in Procreate; documents were built in Google Docs and MS Word with accessibility checkers applied. Throughout development, I integrated feedback from peers and faculty to ensure the final course modeled UDL and accessibility principles.
